Five Points Gallery in Torrington by Ann Nyberg

Five Points Gallery In Torrington
by Ann Nyberg, Network Connecticut

At the heart of the five points in the city of Torrington is the
amazing cultural resource known as the Five Points Gallery at 33
Main Street. Five Points Gallery promotes the work of established
and emerging artists who produce conceptually stunning
contemporary art. Not only is the location beautiful and the design
of the building spacious and inviting, the events held there are oneof-
a-kind. For instance this summer, the Gallery hosted a talk by
Ann Temkin, chief curator for paintings and sculpture for the
Museum of Modern Art in New York. Temkin is a Torrington native,
she came back to her city to a standing room only gathering that
erupted in thunderous applause as she entered to give her lecture
on modern art.

Artists are carefully selected for this gallery. Upon approval, artists
are then provided with the opportunity to discuss their work in depth during an artist lecture evening. Beginning on November 29th for one month, the EMERGING ARTISTS series will be showcased. There will be an opening reception on December 6th at 6pm as 20 highly skilled emerging artists from across the nation will display their work at the Five Points Gallery. Could one of these artists be the next Warhol, Pollack, or Lichtenstein? Make sure you come to Torrington, Connecticut during that month to review this intriguing collection of art from these emerging artists.
