The Painting Lab will be open every Thursday from 10 am-1 pm beginning December 1\, 2022\, for artists of all ages and experience to develop their personal projects using their own materials and sources. There will be a still life setup and mannequins for inspiration if needed; however\, “Creative Camaraderie” is uninstructed to encourage imagination and innovation among friends old and new! \nPlease contact bgrady@fivepointsarts.org to register or just drop in! \nThe cost is $10.00 for each session.

The exhibitions are on view through March 11\, 2023. \nFeatured in the West Gallery\, Sandra Filippucci creates mixed-media flower paintings that reflect the trauma of the war in Ukraine – Shown alongside\, Copper Tritscheller’s horse sculptures which capture the rawness of endurance\, survival\, and resilience. \nThe TDP Gallery showcases encaustic work by Gay Schempp\, based on the mysterious attributes of crows\, and the artist’s own navigation of the pandemic through the eyes of a crow. \nThe East Gallery features sculptures by Joseph Fucigna and paintings by Sam Posey\, both of whom balance parallels of play\, and instinct in their work. \nThe talk will be moderated by Hartford-based artist and educator Matthew J. Best. Listeners can expect to learn more about the individual artist’s concepts\, processes\, and more!

If you want to continue working with cyanotypes\, the chemistry is one of the least hazardous and does not require a lot of additional tools. \nWe will be printing digital negatives from your own images. You will learn the workflow I have developed and a short demonstration.
