Pinhole Film and Non-Camera Digital Flatbed Photography
This series of Pinhole and flatbed scanner images portray perceptions /memories from a past personal traumatic /dramatic episode in my life, an armed home invasion. The characters and scenes depict notions of innocence, violence, anger, dismay, PTSD, despair, vengeance, violation, and justice. This menagerie of elements - color negative film, lensless cameras, Pinhole lenses, digital captures of objects and artworks, manipulation of focus, and color profiles, all come together to form these final personal meaningful images. And to further push this imagery into the public perceptions as a national debate, we need to address the growing ease of gun violence, and the disparity of wealth and race throughout this country.

Peter Brown currently resides in Pine Meadow, CT, and received a BFA in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional design from the Hartford Art School. After graduating he took his sculptural skills towards jobs in construction, then changed course and applied his love of photography towards the commercial advertising photography field. After apprenticing with 2 Hartford area photographers for 5 years, he ventured out on his own to form Woodruff/Brown Photography in 1985.
He is still active to this day with architectural photography, capturing high-end commercial
and residential projects for his architectural clients’ marketing and advertising needs.
Peter’s most recent explorations since 2020 have been with the Pinhole and Scanography alternative photographic process.
He has also worked on a series with both the photography of found, abandoned vehicles and assemblage sculptures from found discarded and repurposed rusted metals and wood.
