GIVING FROM YOUR INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNT

If you are at least 70 ½ years old, you can donate up to $100,000 annually by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to public charities such as Five Points Arts.  Your donation can be counted towards your required Minimum Distribution (RMD), and the distribution will NOT be treated as taxable income on your federal tax return. 

Please consult with your professional tax advisor regarding the tax implications of your gift, since your state’s income tax laws may differ from federal law.

To make an IRA gift to Five Points Arts, please:

• Contact your IRA administrator to request that a “direct charitable distribution” check be made payable to Five Points Arts. (Normally, the check will be mailed directly to you and then you mail it to us.)
• Your IRA administrator must send the check BEFORE December 31st if you want the distribution to be effective in the current tax year.
• Please mail the check to:

• Please notify Five Points Arts so that we can properly identify your gift when the IRA check arrives and send you an acknowledgment receipt

Bequests

A bequest of unrestricted funds designated in your will is one of the simplest and most frequently used methods for making a planned gift and it allows Five Points Arts to use your support where it is most needed.

Your bequest may be a specific amount or a designated percentage of your estate after other gifts, debts, taxes, and administration expenses have been satisfied. 

Language for a gift by bequest can be incorporated into a new will or added by a codicil (amendment) to your existing will.

“I give ____________________(describe dollar amount, property, or proportion of residuary estate) to Five Points Center for the Visual Arts, Inc., d/b/a Five Points Arts, a nonprofit corporation located at 855 University Drive, Torrington, CT 06790 for its general charitable purposes.
