
Folksinger Reggie Harris to Present Free Concert for John Brown’s Birthday!
Torrington Historical Society will host a performance by renowned folksinger Reggie Harris for the Society’s annual John Brown Birthday celebration. Harris will perform in honor of noted abolitionist and Torringon native, John Brown, who was born on May 9, 1900. The Torrington Historical Society is the steward of the John Brown Birthplace, located in Torrington, and recently succeeded in listing the birthplace as a site on the National Park Service’s National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.
Reggie Harris, musician, storyteller, and educator, is an internationally acclaimed performer deeply rooted in the power of song and story. Known for his interest in the Underground Railroad and modern Civil Rights movements, he is a celebrated song leader and advocate for societal change.
