Monotypes Printed With or Without a Press

This workshop will occur over two consecutive Sundays where students will learn how print by hand and with a press. Throughout history, artists such as Maurice Prendergast hand burnished Japanese paper in order to transfer their inked image without a press. The instructor will also show artists how to set up the press for printing and how to adjust the pressure to ensure a good print. During the September 17th follow-up workshop the instructor will demonstrate how one can add an extra layer of ink in perfect registration to a previously printed monotype.
