Jaclyn Conley
Five Points Gallery | November 16-December 21, 2012
The title of the show, Hammer and Tongs, refers to an ambiguous but determined confrontation. In this series of recent paintings, familial conflicts are played out by both domesticated and predatory animals. Whether suggesting bouts of passion, violence or play, these pairings bring forth the emotion characteristically felt or enacted within the domesticated space.
Conley’s recent shows include “The Social And The Domestic”at Wynick/Tuck Gallery, Toronto and “Les Voyages des Oneironauts” at Projective City, Paris. Conley’s work will be included in “The Figure Eight” at Artspace New Haven in February 2013.  Conley is the recipient of a 2012 Artists Fellowship from the Connecticut Office of the Arts and is Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School.
