This introductory workshop will include brief background and history of silverpoint technique and discussion of the distinctive aspects and materials of the medium.

For convenience artists will be working on heavy paper – minimum 140 lb – but other substrates will be discussed for future interest. Artists will prepare a variety of grounds on which to draw. Benefits and drawbacks of tinting the grounds will be considered and either or both can be experimented with. Paper and grounds will be provided with a silverpoint stylus on loan from the instructor. A stylus can be purchased if desired.
