Waterbury Symphony Orchestra: Candlelight Quartet

May 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Treat yourself to a night of timeless classics and glowing ambiance as the quartet performs the music of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, and Queen as you’ve never heard it before. Surrounded by the gentle flicker of thousands of candles, audiences will be swept away by the elegance of strings paired with the unmistakable soul of rock ’n’ roll—an atmosphere that is intimate, moody, and magical. The concert offers an experience that is both emotionally rich and visually striking.

The music program features a sweeping, candlelit journey through legendary songs, arranged for strings, including:

Fleetwood Mac — Landslide • Rhiannon • The Chain • Songbird

Eagles — Desperado • Take It Easy • Hotel California • Lyin’ Eyes

Queen — Crazy Little Thing Called Love • Another One Bites the Dust • We Will Rock You • Bohemian Rhapsody

“In a world that moves fast, music like this invites us to slow down, connect, and feel,” said WSO Executive Director Doug Donato. “The candlelit ambiance and stunning string arrangements create an unforgettable experience — perfect for Valentine’s weekend.”

WSO launched its Candlelight Concerts during the 2024–25 season, which also marked the opening of its new Edmond Town Hall Series. That inaugural concert drew audiences from across the region and established the string quartet by candlelight concert format as a distinctive addition to WSO’s programming. This performance builds on that success, continuing the orchestra’s commitment to presenting intimate, accessible concerts that broaden the orchestral experience.
